Victim in OUI Hit-and-Run Dies

A woman has died after she was struck by a driver who was operating under the influence in a Brockton, Massachusetts, hit-and-run.

A woman has died after she was struck by a driver who was operating under the influence in a Brockton, Massachusetts, hit-and-run. 

Wednesday night, authorities responded to the scene in the area of 789 East Ashland St. for a report that a pedestrian was hit and the motorist had left the scene of the accident.

Amy Laycob, 26, of Randolph was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess around 11 a.m. Friday morning.

Kathleen Casey, 53, of Brockton was arraigned in Brockton District Court on Thursday. She was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Brockton Police and the Plymouth County District Attorney's office say they are reviewing the charges given the fatality. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
