Vermont State Police have arrested three people following a Northfield apartment fire that killed one person and critically injured another.

Police and fire responded to the fire at about 12:40 a.m. Monday to a structure with four apartment units.

Police say Brittany Burt, 22, was found dead in the home and died from smoke inhalation.

A man, identified as 26-year-old Efren Serrano, was first taken to UVM Medical Center and then was being transferred to Massachusetts Hospital's General Burn Center, where he remains in critical condition.
