Over 100 people gathered Thursday evening, lighting candles and writing messages in memorial of a Massachusetts father and his daughter, both of whom were killed in a plane crash Wednesday in Milwaukee.
Friends of Joe and Anna Trustey filed into the Shore Country Day School in Beverly to remember the residents of Wenham, lost way too soon.
Joe Trustey was 53. His daughter, Anna, was just 18.
The victims were on their way to visit Marquette University, a college anna was interested in. Friends say Joe was devoted to his family, including his wife, Kris, and two other daughters.
Their son, AJ, died in October of last year.
"How do you function?" said neighbor Hilly Ebling. "They have a tremendous support community here, but how do you do this?"
Joe Trustey was a prominent Boston business man, the managing director and COO of Summit Partners, and served on several boards, including the Citi Performing Arts Center.

"He was someone who also just gave his heart and soul, and took no credit for it," said Josiah Spaulding, the Citi Performing Arts Center's president and CEO.
Anna Trustey was going into her senior year at the Brooks School in North Andover, where Joe was a trustee.
"Joe was a pillar of support to everyone in his life, and certainly to Brooks School. I cannot overstate what his support has meant to me. Anna was beloved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was good to the core. To lose them both is excruciating," said Brooks headmaster John Packard.
The NTSB is still investigating the cause of this crash. Joe Trustey was flying the plane, but people who know him say he was an experienced pilot.
