Voice of MBTA Signs Off

If you've ridden on the MBTA, you've probably heard Frank Oglesby's voice.

For 21 years, Oglesby has been the voice of the T. Friday, though, he signed off.

"I hear it's soothing, it's calming," Oglesby said. "People sometimes have frayed nerves as they wait for trains, or their work day could have been stressful."

His recordings have changed over the years as stops were added and safety measures evolved.

When he wasn't recording messages, Oglesby also served as deputy director of The Ride. But his voice was his passion, ever since he started out as a college radio DJ.

"It's my love, is using my voice. And to be able to use it in this capacity to help people has been great," Oglesby said.

Even though Oglesby is stepping down, his voice will remain.
