A historic Episcopal church in Vermont's capital city plans to re-open following extensive repairs made after a crane malfunctioned and collapsed on its roof in June.

The Times Argus reports a 10 a.m. service will be held Sunday at the Christ Episcopal Church on State Street in Montpelier.

On June 8, something in the crane's equipment failed and sent its boom straight through the church's roof as workers were removing granite blocks from the structure.

In addition to the roof, parts of inside the church were also damaged. Minor modifications were made to the sanctuary and several pews were removed.

The Rev. Paul Habersang says 90 percent of the church's renovations are completed and Sunday services have been "a long time coming."
