Vt. Tech. Aviation Program Gets Sea Plane

Students at Vermont Flight Academy will learn rare flying skills

Students at the Vermont Flight Academy at the Burlington International Airport have an unusual airplane in which to learn rare flying skills.

The academy, affiliated with Vermont Technical College, was recently given a 1980 Twin Seabee plane that can land on water or ground.

Officials say only a handful of the planes were produced and the plane now parked in South Burlington played a cameo role in the 1980 move "Caddyshack."

Officials with the Vermont Tech aviation program said Wednesday it is now the only such program that offers multi-engine sea plane training to students.

The program is in its third year. Students should begin flying the sea plane next spring.
