Walsh: “Thank You, Mayor Menino”

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh shared kind words at the funeral for his predecessor, Tom Menino.

Boston's current mayor shared kind words of his predecessor Monday.

Mayor Marty Walsh addressed the guests of longtime Mayor Tom Menino's funeral.

"Today, we come together to celebrate a great man, a history-making mayor, and a life of accomplishment," said Mayor Walsh. "The people-loving urban mechanic has gone to fix potholes in Heaven."

Walsh was sworn in this January, filling the shoes of Menino, who served the city he loved for 20 years.

"Mayor Menino had a big heart - big enough to care for all of us. He didn't believe in Old Boston and New Boston. He believed in One Boston," said Walsh. "I want to say, with all of Boston and for all of Boston, thank you, Mayor Menino."
