Warmer Temps on the Way, Coastal Storms Possible Next Week

Wednesday's record cold temperatures will be a distant memory once Friday rolls around. We have a slow warming trend by the end of the week, but another cold snap will soon follow.

Wednesday night will be icy cold again as lows dip into the teens and 20s. Northern New England will see lows in the single digits and teens with the deeper snowpack. Our wind relaxes overnight, so it won’t be quite as brutal for the real-feel. Clouds increase for Thursday on the back edge of high pressure and a southeast wind will elevate temperatures to the upper 30s and low 40s.

Friday will be the pinnacle of the warming trend as we hit highs in the low 50s, but it will be breezy. A low pressure system passes to the northwest Thursday into Friday, triggering snow showers across the mountains.

As the cold front slips south through New England, it dries up. So we don’t expect too much precipitation out of it across southern New England. However, more cold air will follow.

Highs on Saturday will be back in the 30s -- 20s to the north -- and sunny. On Sunday, a coastal low tracks near us and will bring in more clouds as highs gain a few more degrees.

Next week we have a couple shots of coastal storms that should remain offshore. The forecast models are trending warmer, so we expect rain and a wintry mix only across higher terrain. One system moves by us for Sunday night into Monday.

The next system moves by Tuesday into Wednesday.

Our high temperatures stay in the upper 40s to low 50s for the rest of the 10-day forecast.
