Crews Fix Water Main Break in Harvard Square

The break, which occurred on Mt. Auburn and JFK Streets, has made Harvard Square inaccessible from JFK Street

Repair crews raced to fix a water main break in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The break occurred on Mt. Auburn and JFK streets.

Saturday, officials confirmed that the main had been repaired.

Traffic coming east from Mt. Auburn Street was diverted to Eliot to JFK Street outbound to Memorial Drive. JFK was reduced to one lane.

Businesses nearby had to deal with the flooding clean up and had to close their doors to customers Friday.

Overnight, crews ran into addition complications that forced them to shut down about 100 feet of Mt. Auburn west of JFK.
