Unusual Incidents Cause Delays on Area Highways

A camper fire, a fallen grill and a loose dog were among the obstacles motorists had to avoid

Some rather unusual incidents caused delays on several highways around New England on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., Massachusetts State Police sent out a tweet about a camper fire on Route 495 south in Plainville near the ramp to Route 1 south. The incident shut down the ramp for about 20 minutes while firefighters battled the flames.

Around that same time, Boston.com reported that a grill fell off a vehicle on Interstate 93 south in New Hampshire near the Massachusetts line, causing traffic backups.

Also around that same time period, a flatbed truck carrying some mini-trucks got into an accident on Interstate 93 north in the O'Neill Tunnel in Boston, causing delays there as well.

A short time later, a motorist on Rhode Island reported on Twitter that he was assisting Rhode Island State Police in attempting to catch a dog running on the highway on Route 146 north in Providence.

Just another ordinary Sunday in New England...
