Wet and Windy Mother's Day Across New England

A slow-moving system with cold rain began in Connecticut yesterday, and will not be done in Maine until tomorrow. For New England as a whole, this is a three-day weak to moderate nor'easter.

Five to 10 inches of snow fell above 1000 foot elevation in some parts of New England since yesterday.

The low-pressure center passed over Cape Cod in the islands this morning, with a period of light wind near the center of the low, but otherwise wind is on the increase in New England through the afternoon and especially tomorrow.

The steady rain has ended in western and southern New England.

Wind from the northeast, and then the northwest may gust past 40 mph near the coast today, then everywhere tonight and tomorrow.

Where we have sunny breaks and Western New England this afternoon, temperature jumps to 60° or warmer, otherwise we are only in the 40s lower 50s where a steady rain continues.

Bands of rain continue overnight, actually retrograding toward the west a little bit by morning leaving most of the I-93 and I-95 corridors in wet weather to start our Monday.

Where the sun comes out tomorrow in Western New England, the temperature will jump well into the 60s, and rain will taper to showers with a high temperature in the 50s to near 60°.

Rainfall amounts for the period starting yesterday and ending tomorrow, are in the order of 1 to 3 inches generally.

High pressure finally move into New England on Tuesday with sunshine and temperatures jumping to 70° or better.

On Wednesday, it will be warm to hot with temperatures in the 80s, to near 90° on Thursday.

A weak front of may bring a few showers or a thunderstorm Wednesday night or Thursday, with slightly less warm air, but continued mostly dry weather into next weekend.
