Police Officer Hit by Car, Hospitalized

A Wethersfield police officer was hit by a car while investigating a crash on Tuesday night and remains in the hospital this morning. (Published Wednesday, March 9, 2016)

A Wethersfield police officer was hit by a car while investigating a crash on Tuesday night and remains in the hospital this morning.

Police said Officer Peter McGee was standing outside his cruiser at the scene of a prior crash when he was hit around 7 p.m. on Wells Road, near Wolcott Hill Road.

McGee sustained leg and back injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.

The driver who hit the officer remained at the scene. It‘s not clear if charges will be filed.

Members of the Midstate Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating and anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it shoudl call the Wethersfield Police Department at (860) 721-2900.
