A 28-foot whale calf was found dead in the channel between mainland Chatham and Monomy Island.
According to the Cape Cod Times, the North Atlantic right whale calf was found dead Thursday.
The Chatham Harbormaster and Wharfinger located the whale drifting into the channel off Morris Island and pushed it ashore.
The whale is believed to have been hit by a vessel.
