A humpback whale has been found dead on a Rhode Island beach.

It is believed the beautiful ocean creature died while still at sea, according to necn affiliate WJAR.

The whale was found belly-up Wednesday on Crescent Beach on Block Island by a resident.

Executive Director of Block Island Conservancy Michael Chapman tells WJAR the age of the whale has yet to be determined, but it is quite young.
