Woman Accused of Fatally Stabbing Mom Due in Court

Twenty-four-year-old Sharlyn Savain, of Malden, has pleaded not guilty to killing her 58-year-old mother, Marie Luxama

A Massachusetts woman charged with stabbing her mother to death inside an apartment is due in court Monday.

Twenty-four-year-old Sharlyn Savain, of Malden, has pleaded not guilty to killing her 58-year-old mother, Marie Luxama. Police responding to a request for a well-being check found Luxama with stab wounds. She died at a hospital.

Savain was ordered held without bail.

Police Chief Kevin Molis calls the slaying a "terrible act of domestic violence."

Savain's lawyer says her mental competency will be evaluated in court.

Luxama's landlord told police that Savain told him she killed her mother and was going to kill him, too.
