Woman Charged in OUI Crash Into Cruiser Pleads Not Guilty

Lily Reid was granted $1,500 bail at her arraignment Wednesday

A Quincy, Massachusetts, woman police say was driving drunk when she rear-ended a state police cruiser, injuring the trooper inside, has pleaded not guilty.

The Boston Herald reports that 21-year-old Lily Reid was granted $1,500 bail at her arraignment Wednesday on charges of operating under the influence and failing to change lanes for an emergency vehicle.

Authorities say Trooper Elvin Morales was in his marked vehicle at the scene of a two-car crash on Interstate 93 south in Boston at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was struck. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Prosecutors say Reid's blood-alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit to drive.

Her attorney, while not commenting on the case, says his client is grateful that the trooper's injuries were minor.
