Couple Found Dead in South Paris, Maine Apartment

State police say two children, ages 8 and 2 months, were found inside the apartment; they were not injured

An investigation is underway after a couple was found dead inside a Maine apartment Tuesday night.

The discovery was made on Tuesday night at a South Paris apartment next to the Market Square Restaurant on Main Street, according to officials.

State police identified the deceased as Dana Hill and Heather Bickford, both 31.

Bickford's two children, an 8-year-old and 2-month-old, were also in the apartment at the time of their deaths and are now in the custody of the state's Department of Health and Human Services. State police say the children were not injured.

Hill was renting the apartment and Bickford was a Canton resident, according to investigators.

Authorities were called to the apartment around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night by a man who knew the couple; however, no other details about the incident were immediately provided.

State, county and local police are investigating, and a state police evidence technician team went to the scene Wednesday morning. Autopsies began on Wednesday at the State Medical Examiner’s office
