Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing $1.3M From Company

Federal prosecutors say 47-year-old Dawnmarie Prince pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight counts of bank fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft

A Fitchburg, Massachusetts, woman who worked as an office manager for a Woburn life science technology company has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $1.3 million from her employer.

Federal prosecutors say 47-year-old Dawnmarie Prince pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight counts of bank fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

Authorities say from 2005 until 2015, Prince used her position to steal hundreds of company checks, which she made payable to herself or her son. She then forged her boss's signature on the stolen checks, and deposited them into her personal bank accounts. She falsified entries into her employer's bookkeeping software to make it appear the stolen checks had been used to pay legitimate vendors.

Prince faces up to 30 years in prison at sentencing scheduled for Sept. 14.
