A Hardwick, Vermont, woman accused of failing to provide adequate food and water to her livestock and dogs has pleaded no contest to animal cruelty charges.

    The Caledonian Record reports
50-year-old Kelly Frost accepted a plea deal Wednesday, when her trial was slated to begin.

She pleaded no contest to five misdemeanor counts in exchange for a one-year deferred sentence. The other 10 counts she was facing were dismissed without prejudice.

Hardwick police in February seized three horses, five sheep, three goats and four dogs after executing a search warrant at a Hopkins Hill property.

A police affidavit said law enforcement was contacted about the animals by the president of the Vermont Animal Control Association and a humane agent and animal control officer of Barre and four other towns.
