A woman scared off a man who tried to rob her at knifepoint by pulling a gun on him, police in Portland, Maine, confirm.
According to necn affiliate WCSH, a man approached a 35-year-old Cumberland woman while she was walking to her car on Gilman Street on Friday. The suspect allegedly asked her for money and threatened her with a knife.
Police say the woman was able to get into her car, where she had a handgun. The woman pointed the gun at the man and told him to leave her alone, causing him to flee from the scene.
The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, about 5'9", with a goatee and a short buzz cut. He was last seen wearing baggy black jeans, a navy blue t-shirt, and a black hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Portland Police Department at 207-874-8575.
