Woman Sentenced for Bankruptcy Fraud

A former Maine woman has been sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud in federal court.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 46-year-old Rana Clarizio, formerly of Kittery, filed for bankruptcy protection in March 2014.

The next month she failed to disclose $70,000 worth of property of the estate and transferred and concealed more than $125,000 worth of property that wasn't disclosed in court paperwork.

The Portland Press Herald reports Clarizio, now of Oak Brook, Illinois, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland to serve a year and a day in prison on two counts of bankruptcy fraud. She pleaded guilty to the charges in May.

Court records show she must also serve three years of supervised release after her prison term and pay more than $185,000 in restitution.
