Woman Seriously Injured in Ambulance-Involved Crash

Maine State Police say a woman was seriously injured when her car struck an ambulance in Arundel on Saturday.

The crash took place around 6:30 p.m. as the woman attempted to pass the ambulance in the northbound lane of the Maine Turnpike. Her vehicle came to a rest after it overturned into the woods along the roadway.

The victim, later identified as 47-year-old Chriaashawn Young-Rice from Charlotte, North Carolina, is being treated at Maine Medical Center for head injuries.

The ambulance was not transporting a patient. Neither of the attendants were injured.
