Woman Suffers Serious Burns in Mattress Fire

Firefighters in Providence, Rhode Island say a woman suffered serious burns in a mattress fire Wednesday morning.

According to necn affiliate WJAR, the fire at 51 Chaplin Ave. broke out around 6:20 a.m.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital for second-degree burns and smoke inhalation.

Her current condition is not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
