A Worcester woman has been convicted of following a disabled woman and then assaulting and robbing her of $400 in lottery winnings.
Wendy LaPorte was sentenced Wednesday to up to five years behind bars after a Worcester Superior Court jury found her guilty of armed robbery while masked and assault and battery on an elderly or disabled person.
Prosecutors say the 41-year-old LaPorte and Sayed McKenzie saw the 48-year-old victim with cerebral palsy cash in a $400 lottery scratch-off ticket at a gas station in February 2014.
They followed the victim and her mother to the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, where the attack and robbery occurred.
McKenzie previously pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
