Would-Be Robber Smashes Door to Escape

The suspect, who brandished a knife, grabbed the cash register, but the clerk locked the door and cornered the man

Police in Methuen, Massachusetts, are searching for a would-be convenience store robber who dove through a glass door to escape after the clerk fought back.

The incident happened at the Stop Quick Convenience Store at 12 Haverhill St. around 4 Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, who brandished a knife, grabbed the cash register, but the clerk locked the door and cornered the man.

Saturday, police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Joshua Pittochelli. Investigators say he's about 6'5 and about 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

The suspect, using the register, smashed the glass and dove right through it.

He was last seen on Cypress Avenue in a blue SUV.
