Young Boy Attacked by Dog

Animal control confirms 7-year-old boy was attacked by Kaitlyn Grispie's Staffordshire terrier in Plympton, Mass.

A 7-year-old boy was attacked by a dog in his home in Plympton, Massachusetts, animal control officials confirm.

The child suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his right leg, right arm, stomach, torso and left ear when he was attacked by a 5-year-old Staffordshire terrier, animal inspector Frank Bush said.

The child's family was boarding the dog, whose owner, Kaitlyn Grispie of Middleboro, told officials that she was planning on putting him down.

Although she was upset after her son was attacked, the boy's mother told NECN she did not want the dog to be harmed.

"When I heard that the dog was being put down ... I said, 'Give me the number - the case number, something. I don't want that dog being put down,'" said Christine Cellini.

The dog, Buddy, will be quarantined at Grispie's Lovell Street home for 10 days. Animal health and animal control officials will be performing checks on the dog.

According to Bush, Grispie is believed to be a friend of the victim's family.

It is not yet known if the family of the boy intends to press charges.
