Youth Hockey Coach Stalked 18-Year-Old Waitress: Cops

A 57-year-old youth hockey coach is facing charges after police say he stalked an 18-year-old waitress in Shelton, staring at her during her shift, passing her notes and following her out of the restaurant.

Police said Kim Lariccia, 57, of Milford, "obsessively watched" the waitress for around four hours while she worked at a restaurant on River Road in Shelton in March. He followed her out of the restaurant when she finished her shift, according to police.

"He entered the restaurant and stayed for approximately four hours and just stared at an 18-year-old waitress. The waitress became concerned, spoke to a few employees, and they're all watching. He's just staring right at her and not ordering anything but soda," explained Shelton police Det. Richard Bango.

The frightened waitress called her boyfriend and met him at a local parking lot. Police said Lariccia left, but returned to the restaurant and did the same thing the next day.

He eventually left the restaurant, but the waitress was able to get his license plate number and forwarded it to police, according to a news release from police.

"This time he passes a note to the girl saying, 'Do you want to go for a ride?'" Bango said. "She became alarmed, called her father, father showed up and they got the plate."

Investigators learned Lariccia is a youth hockey coach for teams that play at the Rinks at Shelton Sports Center of Connecticut on River Road. The rink directed NBC Connecticut to the Connecticut RiverHawks, but the team has not yet returned a request for comment.

Lariccia was charged with third-degree stalking, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was released after posting a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Derby Superior Court on May 18.

Information on an attorney for Lariccia was not immediately available.
