2 Men Arrested Following Police Standoff

Police in Manchester, New Hampshire arrested two men following a brief standoff on Tuesday morning.

Just before midnight on Monday, Manchester Police were called to the 7-Eleven at 85 South Main St. for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers met with a 24-year-old man who said he had been involved in a fight with Jacob Valley, 19, of Manchester.

The man said Valley had been calling and harassing his 24-year-old female companion, and when the couple encountered Valley outside the victim's Clinton Street address, the two engaged in a physical fight. The man also reported that Valley held an object in his hand that was covered with a bandana, and implied that it was a gun.

Police identified Valley as a subject with active arrest warrants for second degree assault, simple assault and theft related to a June 1 domestic dispute where he allegedly strangled and punched a 19-year-old woman before leaving with her purse. Police had also developed information indicating that he might be in possession of a firearm.

Further investigation led police to 46 Dubuque St., where they located Valley. After a brief standoff, he was taken into custody on Tuesday morning.

Police mainteained a perimeter at the address, however, due to additional information that a second wanted subject was still inside, refusing to surrender. Around 7 a.m., members of the Manchester Police SWAT breached the building and took the second man into custody.

That man, William Maurier, 33, of no known address was charged with resisting arrest and held on a probation violation for witness tampering.
The SWAT team searched the residence to make sure that it was clear, but no weapon was found inside.
