Boston Police Investigate Hernandez's Franklin, Mass. Apartment Wednesday

(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik, Franklin, Mass.) - Boston Police returned Wednesday night to the Franklin, Mass. apartment leased to former Patriot Aaron Hernandez. Franklin Police were also on the scene.

Police took several pieces of evidence from the apartment, to which investigators were tipped off by Hernandez's friend, Carlos Ortiz, allegedly with Hernandez on the night of the murder of Odin Lloyd.

NECN obtained the search warrant for the apartment. In the paperwork, Ortiz referred to the apartment as a "flop house," saying that not too many people knew about it.

Police, while not elaborating, mention cocaine in reference to the reason they visited the apartment.

The search warrants also explain that police uncovered guns and ammunition from the apartment, including 22 and 45 caliber ammunition, a box of wolf ammunition and a rifle. A 45 caliber gun was allegedly used to kill Lloyd.

Police also found a white hooded sweatshirt, similar to the one said to be worn by Hernandez on the night of Lloyd's death.

NECN reporter Kathryn Sotnik has more.
