Breaking the Silence of a Rape Epidemic

(NECN) - Jessica Stern is recognized the world over as an authority on terrorism, but now she is telling a personal story that was hidden for decades.

The book is "Denial: A memoir of terror". She delves into a rape epidemic that took place in the suburbs of Boston in the early 1970s.

A rapist attacked 44 females in the Boston area. 18 of the 44 rapes took place in an eight block radius of the Radcliffe campus. None of the victims knew each other, and for decades, the serial rape crime wave was cloaked in silence.

Stern joins Jim Braude to explain how the silence was broken.
