Healthy Drinks for the Health-cautious Dieter

(NECN: Kristy Lee) – A recent study found that people who eat seven servings of fruits and vegetables each day live longer.

Juices and smoothies are popular, but not all of them are created equal. For many health-cautious dieters, juicing is the latest trend.

Fancy, often expensive machines extract all of the liquid from fruits and vegetables to make delicious, low-calorie drinks.

Blogger Tina Haupert has been juicing her breakfast for the past two years. In just one glass, there can be as many as five servings of fruits and vegetables and as few as 150 calories. For some, it’s a quick and easy fix for keeping fit.

Dietitian Lyn Schwartz warns that juicing alone can deprive the body of essential nutrients.
