How Babies Learn

(NECN) - Parents of perfectly healthy babies are bringing them all over Boston to become research subjects.

Showing babies groups of dots, accompanied by nonsensical words, is helping researchers at places like the Boston College Infant and Child Cognition Lab learn more about how babies process certain information.

Harvard sociologist Hilary Levey Friedman is the mother of one of the babies volunteering for research.

"This doesn't hurt him at all. In fact it's kind of fun and interesting," said Friedman."Most parents are interested in science and they're interested in contributing to future science."

Friedman praises the benefits of the program, both to research and to her child.

"They say that you can nap better after you do an experiment, and they get little prizes, as well."
