Injury Prevention Center Helps Train Athletes for the Boston Marathon

(NECN: Kristy Lee) - We are two weeks away from the Boston Marathon and avoiding injury is crucial for runners in these last few days.

The Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention offers the "Gait Retraining Program" to help runners stay on track.

With the program, doctors take a look at all aspects of a runner’s technique, including stride, how the feet hit the ground and more.

They provide strength and technique training to work on minimizing and preventing injury.

Doctors recommend doing low-impact cross-training like static bikes, giving your muscles a rest with massages and remember to keep hydrated but don't over-hydrate.
