Review: Ceres Bistro

(TV Diner) - Located inside the beautiful Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, MA - Ceres Bistro gives diners a great first impression, with the atmosphere setting the scene for what we hope will be, a delicious dining experience. The large oval stained glass dome serves is a classical twist in the airy contemporary dining room. The menu focuses on local ingredients and working with the seasons to showcase their culinary staffs' skill.

Our meal began with the tasty French country style pate with traditional accompaniments.

For appetizers we tried the shredded duck spring rolls. The flavorful Asian inspired dipping sauce was the star of this dish and added some needed moisture to the tiny spring rolls.

We also had the outstanding crab cake full of flavor and served with a chipotle aioli and southwestern vegetables.

Our first entre was the very tender Asian braised short ribs with a creamy siracha sauce and an interesting scallion, eggplant, and potato cake.

Our favorite dish of the meal was the pan seared jumbo scallops in a well balanced Sambuca cream sauce over silky smooth mashed potatoes with a variety of fresh vegetables.

The desserts were the incredibly good and beautiful looking tropical napoleon with passion fruit, coconut, and mango.

The second dessert was a classical crme caramel but topped with half grapes and berries that were a surprisingly good accent.

Our server and the rest of the staff were efficient, knowledgeable and pleasant to talk with.

The prices at Ceres are reasonable with appetizers and other starters ranging from seven to fourteen dollars, entrees were as little as nine dollars for a half plate up to twenty-eight dollars, and desserts were around seven.

Ceres Bistro does a great job of fitting in with its luxury boutique hotel host and earns the gold plate!
