Chris Christie Named MVP at Charity Softball Game at Yankee Stadium

Gov. Chris Christie suited up in full baseball gear and was named MVP in a celebrity softball game at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night.

The New Jersey governor joined other celebrities -- including Rudy Giuliani and former Jets coach Rex Ryan -- by donning blue and white baseball uniform for the WFAN "True Blue" charity softball match benefitting the families of fallen police officers.

It's the second year running that Christie has played in a celebrity game in the Bronx, last year helping lead his team to a 7-6 win in the fourth annual Bombers Boomer Broadway Softball Classic, which benefitted the Wounded Warrior Project.

NJ.com reports that Christie, a star catcher in high school and an avid Mets fan, played well defensively and helped his team to a 4-3 victory.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin and current Jets coach Todd Bowles both also played. Several Yankees icons, including Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre, were also at the game.
