Is the Democratic agenda for minimum wage increase and mandatory paid sick time "dead on arrival" in GOP-led Congress?
Democrat Niki Tsongas, a representative of the Massachusetts' 3rd District, joined NECN to discuss the plans.
On Thursday, the Senate approved the Keystone XL pipeline, with nine Democrats voting with the Republican majority. Tsongas had previously voted "no" on the issue, explaining her long-standing concerns for the environment and the possibility of tax payers being responsible for oil spills from the pipeline.
Tsongas believes that there are pieces of legislature that have bi-partisan support. She also discussed President Obama's State of the Union Address, sexual assault, and armed services.
