Despite Being Coy About Re-election, Warren Is Stockpiling Cash

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts is stockpiling campaign cash even though she hasn't committed to a 2018 re-election bid.

Filings with the Federal Election Commission show the first-term Democrat collected nearly $1.6 million in contributions in the first half of 2015, bringing her campaign bank account to more than $2.4 million as of the end of June.

Warren spent about $758,000 during the same six-month period.

Nearly 70 percent of the money raised by Warren this year came in small donations of under $200.

Warren also raised about $421,000 for her political action committee called the PAC for a Level Playing Field. That brings the PAC's cash on hand to more than $1.2 million.
