Deval Patrick's Future

John Walsh, the executive director of Together PAC, talks about what may be next for Massachusetts' governor

In Massachusetts, the news of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's resignation had an immediate, but short-lived, political impact as attention turned to Governor Deval Patrick and his future.

Although Patrick was quick to set the record straight, saying he wasn't interested in the job, it does lead many to wonder what's next for governor after he leaves office in January.

John Walsh, the executive director of Together PAC, said the governor is complimented every time a spot opens up in the Obama administration and his name is whispered to being on the short list.

"The main reason it doesn't make sense is Deval Patrick pledged to the people of the Commonwealth he's going to fulfill his term, and he's going to, and he's also told people for four years that when he's done, he's going back to the private sector, and that's what he really wants to do," he said.
