Fung Endorsed by Former Rival

Ken Block, who lost to Allan Fung in the RI GOP gov. primary, has endorsed his party's nominee

Defeated GOP candidate Ken Block has endorsed his former rival for Rhode Island governor and says he'll offer whatever help Cranston Mayor Allan Fung needs.

The two appeared together at a news conference at the Statehouse Monday. Fung says he's grateful for the support and expects to enlist Block's help in garnering support for a constitutional convention.

Both candidates indicated during the primary that they would support the nominee if they lost, but last week Block said he was still healing and it was too soon to talk about an endorsement.

Democratic nominee and General Treasurer Gina Raimondo was joined on the campaign trail Friday by her two former rivals, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and first-time candidate Clay Pell, to portray a united front heading toward the Nov. 4 election.
