Interviews Reveal Edward Kennedy's Beliefs on Immigration Overhaul

All of the controversy and delays when it comes to immigration reform was predicted years ago by former Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy.

In several interviews recently released by the Miller Center at the University of Virginia, the long-time senator pointed to weak leadership, resentment and fear of casting risky votes as reasons why an overhaul could take "another 45 years."

The recurring theme of the interviews, which are part of the Edward M. Kennedy Oral History Project, is that the Senate of the 21st Century is not working hard enough to fix major issues unless bills are guaranteed to pass.

Kennedy passed away in 2009.
