Lawmakers React to U.S. Airstrikes on Syria

Activists say that so far, the strikes have results in casualties among not only militants, but civilians as well

Lawmakers in New England are speaking up following the announcement that the United States conducted airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria.

New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen released a statement saying, “Striking ISIL targets in Syria sends the clear message that the United States and its allies will take the fight to these terrorists wherever they are.”

She added, “I have supported and will continue to support aggressive action to destroy ISIL in Iraq and Syria, and I am encouraged that the United States was joined in this mission by Middle East partner nations. We must continue to build a strong international coalition to defeat this terrorist group."

Activists say that so far, the strikes have results in casualties among not only militants, but civilians as well.

The military planned to strike up to 20 targets, including fuel and weapons depots, training sites and headquarters for the radical fighters.

President Obama is set to speak at 10 Tuesday mroning about the airstrikes.
