Mass. Lt. Gov. Candidate Mike Lake

Lake is CEO of non-profit Leading Cities and former development director of United Way

Democrat Mike Lake, the CEO of a non-profit called Leading Cities and a former development director for the United Way, is campaigning to be Massachusetts' next lieutenant governor.

On Broadside, he joined Wendy Murphy, who asked him why the people should care about the lieutenant governor job.

"Massachusetts, frankly, is not running at full capacity today," said Lake. "By not having somebody in the lieutenant governor's office, we are missing opportunities in Massachusetts - opportunities to compete in the international arena, opportunities to partner with organizations that are helping people."

Lake gave his thoughts on the Democrats who hope to replace Gov. Deval Patrick.

"The fact of the matter is, we have three extraordinary candidates running for governor in the Democratic primary," said Lake of Don Berwick, Steve Grossman and Martha Coakley.
