NH Senate Race Poll: Shaheen and Brown in Dead Heat

Poll finds Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is almost tied with Scott Brown, but maintains double digit lead over other Republicans

With less than three months to go until Election Day, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-New Hampshire) is in a dead heat with GOP challenger and former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown.

However, the WMUR Granite State Poll found that Shaheen still has double digit leads over other Republican hopefuls.

The poll, which was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center and released Thursday evening, says 60 percent of New Hampshire voters are still undecided.

If the election was held Thursday, Shaheen would have 46 percent of the vote while Brown would get 44 percent, with 9 percent still undecided. However, if Shaheen's challenger was former New Hampshire Sen. Bob Smith or former state Sen. Jim Rubens, the poll found Shaheen would easily win, with 50 percent of the vote to Smith's 36 percent, and 49 percent of the vote to Rubens' 35 percent.
