New York Times Poll: Coakley Ahead

Days after the Boston Globe, which endorsed Charlie Baker, published a poll showing the Republican ahead by nine points, the New York Times says Democrat Martha Coakley is up by four points.

Just days after the Boston Globe published a poll showing Republican Charlie Baker leading Martha Coakley in the race for Massachusetts governor, the New York Times has taken an opposing position.

A poll by the Times, CBS News and YouGov.com shows a five-point lead for Coakley over Baker, with 45 percent in favor of the Democrat and 41 percent for the Republican.

Friday, the Boston Globe reported that Baker led Coakley by nine points, 45 percent to 36 percent. Two days later, the publication officially endorsed Baker.

The Democrat and the Republican face off in a debate at 8 p.m. Monday on NECN and www.necn.com.
