Obama Coming to Boston March 30

The President and the First Lady will attend the opening of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute

President Barack Obama will visit Boston on March 30 for the opening of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute.

"The Institute will give people from all walks of life a real, hands-on feel for the vital role the Senate plays in our democracy. Combining interactive technology with a full-scale representation of the U.S. Senate Chamber, the Institute will educate and inspire the next generation of citizens and leaders," says Victoria Reggie Kennedy, President of the Board of Directors of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.

The institute is being built on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Boston next to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and friends and family of the late Massachusetts Senator will also be in attendance.

Kennedy was the third longest-serving member of the United States Senate in American history. Voters in Massachusetts elected him to the Senate nine times.

Kennedy passed away on Aug. 25, 2009 after a battle with brain cancer.
