Obama's Order, GOP's Defiance

WGBH's Peter Kadzis takes a close look at the immigration battle.

Thursday night, President Barack Obama told Astrid Silva's story in a speech to the nation about immigration. Now, the hopes of millions of families like Silva's rest on a battle between Obama and Congress.

Peter Kadzis, senior editor for WGBH News, joined host Jim Braude to take a closer look at the immigration battle.

Braude said he thinks Republians are on the defense, but Kadzis says otherwise. "This is a very sensible policy Obama is pulling for, but it's risky politics," he said. "For all the talk of America being a majority minority country and moving towards an ethnically diverse voters, 75 percent of people who vote in presidential elections are white and only 38 percent of those people went for Democrats last time."
