Opposing Obama's Syria Strategy

Niki Tsongas is 1 of 7 Mass. Democrats in House of Representatives who voted against Obama's request for funds to aid and equip Syrian rebels against ISIS

Rep. Niki Tsongas is one of seven Massachusetts Democrats in the House of Representatives who voted last week to oppose President Obama's request for funds to aid and equip Syrian rebels in the battle against ISIS.

Monday, Tsongas joined Jim Braude on Broadside to explain her position.

"I felt it was a backdoor vote that was sort of near-term in the way it was framed with many long-term consequences, committing us - potentially committing us to much more than we'd had an opportunity to talk about," said Tsongas. "We need a chance to have that debate on the floor of the House."

Tsongas explained that the potential for boots on the ground was a concern.

Additionally, Tsongas discussed the controversy surrounding the NFL following the domestic violence case against Ray Rice.
