The Celtics released the statement hours after Thomas departed for Tacoma, Washington to be with his grieving family

Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas on Wednesday released a statement about the death of his younger sister, saying he has experienced the “hardest week of my life.”

The Celtics released the statement hours after Thomas departed for Tacoma, Washington to be with his grieving family, ESPN reported.

“I never could have imaged a day where my little sister, Chyna, wouldn’t be here. She and my family are everything to me, so the pain I am feeling is impossible to put into words.

Chyna Thomas died in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, a day before the Celtics opened their first-round playoff series against the Chicago Bulls.

Thomas thanked the Celtics organization and the people of Boston for the “love and support.”

Thomas suited up for the first two games of the series and is expected to join his teammates in time for Game 3, Friday night in Chicago. The Celtics trail the series, 2-0.
