City of Boston Prepares for World Series to End at Fenway

(NECN: Brian Burnell, Boston) – Sunday night’s win guarantees the World Series will return to Boston for at least one game. While fans are hunting for tickets, the city of Boston is going over its plans for security.

Red Sox fans are anticipating a World Series win, but it won’t be easy.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino was up late Sunday night, like many of us, watching the World Series.

It’s not as if Boston doesn’t know how to handle the World Series—topping the Cardinals would give the Sox their third title in a decade—but they haven’t won it at home since 1918. But Mayor Menino says the city is ready.

The key to the security plan is to keep things under control, as much under control as possible, especially during an elimination game.

After the 5th inning, tables and chairs outside of bars and restaurants will be moved so that they can’t be used during a celebration. People inside the bars can stay, but nobody else will be let in. any lines outside the bars will be dispersed, and any windows on bars will be covered over.

The last championship won in Boston was the Celtics in 2008.

In the present, people are looking for tickets to this World Series and not finding much.

But these fans are happy to be in Boston, even if they can’t be in Fenway.

Boston Police will be out in force for Game 6, and Game 7 if needed, to ensure that things stay under control as the Sox hopefully win another World Championship.

Parking restriction begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Boston. There will be restrictions in the Kenmore area, Brighton, near Northeastern, near Faneuil Hall and near North Station.
