USA's Michael Phelps poses with his gold medal during the podium ceremony of the Men's swimming 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on August 13, 2016.

Where does Michael Phelps keep all those Olympic medals?

    He's not saying.

Phelps is the most decorated athlete in Olympic history with 23 golds and 28 medals overall. But he rarely shows off his medals in public.

During a news conference Sunday, less than 24 hours after winning his fifth gold of the Rio Games in what was presumably his final race, Phelps wasn't wearing any of his hardware.

"They're in a secret spot that not many people in the world know exactly where they all are," he said. "I don't look at them that often."

Of course, Phelps still has the six medals he won in Rio -- five golds and a silver.

"This morning when I woke up, I looked at all of them from this Olympics," he said. "It will be cool to see 28 of 'em together, that's for sure."
